I wanted to make this platter from one serious piece of curly walnut, but did not have the tools for the way I wanted it it look...I had to settle for using an egg beater drill off the lathe and chainsaw files to do the "carving"...I guess the old adage: where there's a will, there's a way is apt after all :)

Wow, Nice Mick, You got some great curl in that walnut, and I really like the edgework.

What size is that platter?

Whoa! That's one fine looking piece of wood and some great turning! Super job!

Thanks for all the "wows" etc..I really hesitated to make that edge design..the potential for screwup was huge..the wood so pretty that the temptation to turn it plain was huge...but I talked myself into it..glad you all liked it:)
