Found another treasure on craigslist. A new, still in box and original packaging Jet 1014vs. She was asking $350 and I was able to get her to lower that price down to $275.

As I was unpackaging it, I was surprise to see that it has never been plugged in. There's even a original coating on the bed and the tape around the box was still sealed. the lady originally bought it for her husband, now ex husband, and she has to move out by the end of the week. She doesn't remember how long ago she bought it but its been sitting in her basement since then. Her loss my gain!

Best suggestions on cleaning the sticky wax / coating from the factory off of the bed runners?

I've never had a brand new lathe so this is new to me.

That's a good lathe for pen turning! Picked one up from Craigslist a couple years ago and found it more convenient for making pens than my Nova 3000. Very quick start/stop times, plenty of power, and a nice speed range with the 1014VS' variable speed.

Enjoy your new lathe!
