Bowl # 3. 1 1/2 x 6 1/2 Was about and inch and a half taller before a dynamic design change.

Still can't use my bowl gouge any better than a mallet...so once again this was hollowed with a 1/2 round nose scraper. Still I'm getting pretty good at scraping! :)

Finish is BLO and Shellac. I'll add a couple more coats and call it good.

I like what you did. Very nice.

Gives me ideas. I've got 2 Bay Laurel trees/bushes at the corner of my house that have reached above the 2nd story gutters. They have to come down. I can't really see the trunk bases because of the thick growth to the ground. Seems like a nice project, once they have been dried.

Peter, keep up the great work. I particularly like the way in which you have photographed the entire bowl. BTW, very nice turning. The finish matches the wood very well. :biggrin:

Thanks all! I'm happy with it and ready for another attempt.

Cool thing about this wood. It's smells great. It's known locally as Pepperwood and actually smells like black pepper while turning it!
