Finished this pen close to two months ago, burled walnut with CA finish. The finish looked like glass and completely clear when finished. Today, I took a look at it and we've got white imperfections starting to show up under the surface. Anyone have a clue what's going on?

There was some speculation around here a few days ago regarding CA activator. I purchased a new can and had issues just like that. I thought I had missed some dust, so I sanded everything off, cleaned it like crazy and had the same results.

I read about the activator on here and tried without it and had no trouble.

I had a similar experience with Camel-thorn almost a year ago... after the white spost my CA actually came off in pieces. Speculations with some friends listed the oiliness of the wood to be the cause, but I was never convinced. The finish was beautiful for a full 4 days and then it started to go south...

Either there was moisture in the wood or in the CA. I have found that if the CA is old it can cause problems such as the finish being nice and then getting white spots.
