I'm confused about the buffing compounds between HUT and Beall.

Has HUT simply renamed the generic compounds used by Beall
- or is there a fundamental difference of some kind ?

HUT - Satin Gloss (brown colored)
HUT - High Gloss (creme colored)

versus

Beall - Tripoli
Beall - White Diamond

Thanks as always.

Yes, there is a fundamental difference. The Bealle are buffing compounds that leave nothing on the surface of the wood after they have been used. The Carnauba Wax is added as a separate application after the wood has been buffed.

The carrier in the Bealle Tripoli buffing stick is animal tallow. I don't klnow what is used in the White Diamond.

The HUT sticks are the same Tripoli and White Diamond abrasive particles in a Carnauba Wax that leaves a coating of wax on the wood after it is used.

Since they are a WAX, the HUT waxes can be used in a "friction" application. The Bealle compounds don't work very well that way.

Both can be applied with a buffing wheel.

You will find advocates and detractors for both.
