Bottlestoppers

Hello all, guys. I'm almost new to woodturning (from June 2012). I love making pens and many other little things such as bottlestoppers, keychains, etc...
Here I will show you my first cuople of bottlestoppers. I have made them for fun and to improve my (very poor) skills. Criticism and suggestions are welcome.

Thanks Paul. The coin is an old italian coin (before the Euro).

Interesting to see the coin... my brother just did a stopper with a miniature copy of the NOLA water meter-esque inset about 1 1/4" or so across. They're popular around here especially since Katrina. Many started disappearing causing some issues. Then NOLA started licensing the design. I'll try to get a picture, but he's not totally done. He doesn't like the finish.

I used the term "china style" just because the shape reminds me of a little Chinese with a pointy hat...

I like the coin style, however the other one is a little tall for my tastes (IMHO).

I like them both. Did you simply CA glue the coin into the recess? or is it fully encapsulated?

Yes, I simply CA glued the coin into the recess. The recess is approx half the height of the coin.
