These are my latest bottlestoppers....now making a total of 6 !

They are left to right Walnut w/blue acrylic insert (made from pen blank cutoff)
Lignum Vitae
Black Palm

Gary - Nice stoppers! Esp like the black palm. Don't you like turning the lignum? Great scent! That lignum vitae one is interesting - haven't seen lignum w/sapwood before. Nice contrast. What finish did you use?

Personal observation/bias - I prefer stoppers in darker woods and a high gloss finish. Don't know why. I did a trial run with 3 different styles in 9 different woods and (IMHO) the preferable ones were always the darker. Almost always the darker the better until they got REAL dark (ie, Afr Blackwood). Best (again IMHO) were Tamboti, Cocobolo and Rosewood.

How do the rest of the onlookers "see" it?

Ted, Thanks for the input. I think I agree with you on the darker woods. I started out using cheaper woods until I felt like I had the hang of it. I think I am ready to get a little more serious with them. I have a bunch of Ruth Niles SS stoppers I have been holding on to until I felt like I was ready. The next one will hopefully be a little more special.
