My first attempt to turn a Bird House. Body is dyed Buckeye Burl, roof is Red Oak and finial is African Blackwood. It's clear from the finial that I am no threat to Cindy Drozda. Fun project, I'll probably make more, just have to give some more thought to proportions, something seems wrong with the relationships between the three elements. Finish is friction polish.

Thanks, I agree the finial is too chubby, but finials are not my strong suit. I really need to take some time to work on my finial skills. I have a bag of African Blackwood pen blanks that I got for making finials, and maybe I should just make myself turn a finial ever week for a couple months to develop the skill.
