I have some black cherry with 48+ inches of underbark and insect gnawed edge. Some places are 2" wide on a 4/4 board. This could probably make at least a dozen blanks. This wood has been stacked in a barn for at least 5 years, so moisture should not be a problem.
I don't cast, but would love to see this edge put to use.
Anyone interested in casting these? I will mail the wood to you, you cast/keep half the blanks, and send the rest back to me.
If interested, please post here and PM me with your address, etc. I can have this in the mail by the end of the week.
I will rip this from the heart wood and cut to deminsions for blanks.
