I promised Mike Shue that I would show this off as well. This is, as morta pipes go, incredibly huge. Most have a chamber depth of only about 2cm or so, dictate by the size of morta blocks usually available, but this one goes more than twice that.

Yep, otherwise known as "bog oak". This is actually Irish bog oak, though you can find bog woods all over the world - wherever bogs exist. There are other woods that can be reclaimed from bogs, but oak is some of the most common and distinctive with its prominent grain pattern.

If you want to mix it up a little I have some bog oak from WV. I had an archeologist date it around 10,000 to 15,000 years old. I have some pipe size blanks if you are interested.
