I finally got around to trying a hollow form today.
I am pleased with the hollow form part itself but I am challenged when it comes to turning pedestals and lids and finials . That part will come in time.
As my first one I didn't want to go too thin on the walls so the wall is 3/16 thick at the top and gradually and evenly works down to 1/4" at the bottom. It was turned from dry wood so it is very light in weight when hollowed out.
The lid has a short tenon that fits inside the hole and is removable so it could be used as a potpourri container or just something to store anything that would fit through the hole.

Great job!

First try on hollow form? You will go places man.

Only critique, the finial/cover looks too heavy/thick.

Thanks for all the nice comments.
As my first one, I learned a lot. Next one will be easier and I am now looking for a nice piece of wood that should do justice to my next one.
Must go out and check the firewood pile again.
