Any spinners out there?
This thing is a Wraps Per Inch (WPI) gauge to help spinners maintain yarn thickness and knitters to choose which needles to use...
Or something like that.
It will be a prize for a spinning competition on the fibre arts megasite Ravelry.com
The gap is an inch wide so if you wrap different thicknesses of yarn around it (to fill up the gap) you'll get a different wrap number that defines the thickness of said yarn.
