Excellent work there........and only 6 hours to make it?
That's impressive.
I don't smoke, but I would enjoy trying my hand at that.
Any recommended resources to start with?

Bob,
I've been looking into pipe making for about the last 3 weeks or so. I've never smoked a pipe, and really don't intend to, but I just love the craftsmanship of it. Your pipe is a perfect example of that craftsmanship!! Absolutely beautiful Bob. Been thinking of making some pipes using non traditional woods (maybe HRB/DIW) or even some WW burl/resin with AA/alumilite stems. I'm sure they will be unusable for smoking and will likely **** off the purest, but hey, it's all about the craftsmanship for me. Anyhow, love the pipe Bob. Keep up the good work!!

Beautifully done, I really like that you shot various process steps.

A couple things I am curious about, the first shot had a strait stem, but the latter ones curved.

Is the stem steam bent or did did you make a curved one later?

Is that stand a dedicated pipe stand or something used for the purpose? I am always interested in unique display stands for photography and this one is pretty neat.

The stand is made specifically for pipes. As for the stem, its vulcanite (vulcanized rubber). Nothing to do with Star Trek! I heated it up and bent it before buffing it up. There's several ways to heat it up. Some use a heat gun, candles, etc. I use a butane cigar lighter. Just have to watch it so you don't get it so hot it starts to burn.
