I had no idea that Indianapolis had a flag

Yea, I don't think many towns do, but when I was doing research, I realized quickly that Indiana's flag was out of my league without access to a laser:

flag_indiana.gif

but found the Indianapolis one and figured I could pull off something close, with the addition that it hit the red-white-blue theme too...

What is the Sierra casting in the 4th picture at the bottom?

Larry

Got a notice for my Pith package on Friday while at work. Wife put it back in the box Saturday requesting redelivery for Monday. Waited for the mail lady Monday (she'll come up the drive and honk). My wife checked the mail on her way to work and it was there already..... She caught the mail lady leaving the subdivision and she didn't have it. Claimed the delivery slip wasn't in the box. So I went to the post office to pick up...they asked me for my notice...duh!!!! Then they proceeded to hunt for it....no luck. Asked for the Postmaster, he was at lunch so they took my name and number. No call so I went back to the post office at 4:30. Postmaster there but still no package. They called the sub that did the root Saturday and he recall a package containing drugs from the VA (Veterans Administration)..wrong package and not mine. Once again they took my name, address, and phone and the postmaster said he'd personally deliver when they found it......Got a phone call at 7:30 this morning saying they found it in the bottom of a sorting bin with several bins stacked on top....The wife said they offered to bring right over but I said just bring with the regular mail. The AO who delivered had the nerve to tell me that if I signed the back the could have just left it....(if they could have found it)....It's here safe and sound.

I'd mentioned to Harry that I used a slim line style at work but had developed an affection for fountain pens...He sent one of each along with an atomizer for the wife and some other goodies...Great pens and the slimline goes to work with me nexr Monday...Thanks again Harry

I finally last week sent Gofer his package from Ohio to Canada. It is enroute now. Hopefully less than a week now he should have it. I had some delays due to lack of funds getting it sent and just starting a new job with M-THu hours of 4:30pm to 4am. Sigh. Anyways I received his package, very nice pen and great compliment of woods and such he traded. I will work on getting pictures up as soon as I can.

I finally got around to taking photos of the pen and keychain I got from madmax89060 last week. A very nice blue and white acrylic stretch pen with inlaid red dots and a segmented double ended keychain. I got a bunch of other packing in the box as well but forgot to take a photo.

I do believe it's stainless steel braid. I'm thinking it will go great on a Black Titanium Wall ST II (Woodcraft version of Sierra)

Gary's double knot was much more impressive than my picture abilities. This is truly an outstanding pen and plenty of extras as well. Thanks Gary

PITH Pens from RyanNJ

Ryan was kind enough to send me TWO pens, both satin silver slimlines with corian. It's hard to see the joint in the photo of the red/white/blue segmented pen, but it's in the center blue segment.

Thanks!

Ryan, your pen is on the way - I'll wait to post a pic until you've had a chance to see it.

Canadian Cartridge pen from Snyiper to darrin1200

Finally got home to open my package. It has been waiting patiently on the kitchen counter for a week.

Inside I found a great collection of packing material and this awesome Cartridge Pen.
(Please excuse the photos, I forgot my photo tent at my other apartment.)

I love this pen. It not only follows the country theme, but pays tribute to my military carear as well. I know Glenn was pushing his envelope and trying new things with this project. All I can say is :biggrin:"WELL DONE":biggrin:.

Thanks again Glenn, I had a lot of fun with this exchange, and can't wait to try another.

This is the pen I sent to my friend and PITH partner chuditch. It's made from Texas Ebony on a Cambridge Hybrid rollerball. George and I agreed to use natural timbers from our regions rather than follow the suggested color scheme. He's been a bit under the weather and will complete the one he's sending to me when his health improves. He has already recieved this one and agreed that I post a pic.

Here is the pen I sent to Chris (craftdiggity). I tried to stay close to the original Americana theme....easier said than done since I am not one who casts my own blanks.....
Redwood Burl that comes from my home state of Calif segmented with a bit of red-white-blue and aluminum on an Elegant Cigar kit finished with a few coats of CA.

Here's the pen Jeremy J. PITHed me off with
It's a real nice Sierra.
The blue and white in the blank reminds me of a wave crashing on the beach in a cold northern tundra.
The finish is most excellent.

Thank you Jeremy.

Bakelite Cigar from Jeff (aka va3jff)

Thanks so much Jeff. The PITH pen you made is fantastic. The colors are great, and have great depth. It fits great on the cigar, and the turning/polishing look great. Thanks also for the extra packing material. I'll have to make time and do something with those soon. Thanks for the great pen. I'll keep it at my desk at work and use it often.

Here's the description from Jeff:
"As for the pen, it is a Black Titanium Cigar pen as you can tell. The ink cartridge has been upgraded from the standard Parker insert to a Private Reserve Ink from exoticblanks.com. You should find that it writes incredibly smooth - pressing the quality of a rollerball.

The pen barrels are not hand cast by me. They are in fact, antique bakelite. I found the bakelite rod (curtain rod I believe) in a deep yellow with a little swirl visible. Turning off the outer patina, the rod itself was white swirl. The tubes and inside of the blanks were painted in red and blue using a semi-opaque enamel paint. I kept the colours in the semi-opaque state to allow the shine and shimmer of the brass tubes to help accent the final colours. The fact that the colours are actually on the inside of the blank allows for the depth and variation within the colours of the barrel that you see."

PITH Pen From BruceK

This is the great cocobolo burl Jr. Statesman rollerball I received from BruceK. My pen photography skills do not do justice to the figure in the pen. The fit is perfect and the finish shines brightly. Bruce also included the stand and a selection of blanks. He sent alternative ivory, red mallee burl, camphor burl and irish bog oak. I must admit that I was really slow figuring the last one out as it was just labelled IBO but finally the penny dropped. I haven't worked with any of these before and am looking forward to picking the right kit for each of these blanks.

Bruce has been a really great PITH partner and I look forward to staying in touch in the future.

Thanks Bruce!

Michael

Here is the pen I got from my pith partner, (Craig, SkookemPens). I love the way the top and bottom line up, great pen and the leather pouch is not bad either. My photo does not do it justice. Sorry it took so long to post, been busy in the shop lately, working on a project for my lovely wife. Thanks again Craig.

Well, my procrastination makes me feel real bad. I recieved my pith pen(s) from my Austrailian partner, Gerry Harp (gezewa on the IAP) and I just sent mine out on Friday. I was quite surprised to find not one but two pens in the parcel when I opened it and a small treasure chest of extremely nice Aussie blanks to boot. The quality of workmanship on both the pens is very good. I just wish the photos would show the depth of the finish on both. I recieved a Jr Retro made from Eucalipus burl, I believe, and a gold baron made from another of the fine woods found out back. Neither was labeled but it matters not they are both beautiful. Thank you Gerry and Cheers to you.

Pith Pen

I received this very well done Jr. Statesman from my PITH partner, Ron Jones...or....REJ19. Good Job Ron!!!!

I greatly enjoyed this contest and I have a very nice pen to show for it.
Ron asked me to photograph both the pens, which I did and sent him a disc of my pen to him to post.

Thanks to all for the work involved in running this contest.

Coachwhipped pen for RyanNJ

Here is a snapshot of the pen I sent to RyanNJ (he asked me to post it for him). It is made from red, white, and blue whipping twine that I braided around the brass tube in a style called "coachwhipping", built up CA, and turned. The kit is an Elegant Beauty.

LizardSpit's pen to me on PITH

LizardSpit sent this great looking Jr Gent Rollerball. What is funny is the color of this pen is one of the school colors at the High School where I grew up.
I hope that he is as happy with the pen that I sent to him (or at least his wife might be). He said that his wife took it from him as soon as she saw it. My pen for him was an amboyna burl zen.

IT'S HERE!!!

My package showed up in the mail today, a few days earlier than expected. I love it when the post office actually does their job right.

LarryDNJR already posted pictures of all the extras he sent but seems like a whole lot more when it is on the work bench. I will have lots of work to make use of all the supplies he sent.

The pen he made looks great, he stuck to Mike's flag theme and did a great herringbone design out of acrylics. I had the pen out of the case for about 10 seconds when my wife tried to claim it as one of hers. My picture taking skills just don't do the pen justice at all.

Here is the pen I received from micharms. It's a spalted maple Jr. Statesman. The fit and finish is excellent! Michael also included some wood blanks from trees in his neck of the woods. This was a fun PITH, and Michael was a great exchange partner.

Here are the TWO pens I received from my PITH exchange partner, CHEF:

pens_DSC6161.JPGpens_DSC6163.JPG

The slimline i'm fairly certain is corian... the Sierra appears to me to be a black titanium kit (my favorite) with a really cool burl of some sorts, maple maybe? I haven't been doing this long enough to know for sure. Sorry the color appears to be a bit off in the photos!

My apologies to CHEF for not posting these sooner, I've had houseguests for the past two weeks and not had any time to spare... Also thanks for the box of goodies! I've never had a chance to turn corian before, so it will be a new experience for me!

Thanks!!
