Decided to something a little different over labor-day weekend and made an end grain cutting board. This was the first time I tried with this type of design; everything lined up; it is almost glass smooth to the touch. Maple, walnut, and paduak were used.

I have always wanted to make something along the lines but was always worried about alignment. How did you do such an awesome job of that? Did you make a jig to hold everything in place?

It is gorgeous! great work. Someone will be VERY happy to receive it.

All of the crosscut pieces are the same length, during the glue-up 3 clamps were used to hold it together and 2 clamps with scrap wood aligned all the edges straight; it helps to have another set of hands assisting and a lead filled plastic mallet for persuasion. I found a lot of good information on the web on how to make these types of boards.
