.....giving me the opportunity to have some of my work published in his latest edition(3rd) of his "Pen Turners Workbook".

Myself, Don Ward(its_virgil), and Harry Anderson(plano_harry) as well as other penmakers, attended the 2013 Dallas/Ft.Worth Woodworking Show today, where we picked up our autographed copies from the man himself. Contrary to popular belief by some, Barry was very genuine and a pleasure to talk to. His booth, run by he and his wife, had lots of exciting things on display to include a new pen press which i now gotta have! If you havent seen it, go check it out. No more losing the plastic spacers or the tightening and loosening of a knuckle busting oversized screw. Here are some pictures after the show was coming to an end this evening. Hope you enjoy!!!

I also want to thank Plano_harry for helping us out with the "hands-on penturning" area as well. And a big THANKS to Mike and Kirk at Craft Supplies for having everything set up and ready for us!!

I've been using that press since it first came out and the new model is better than the original (I own both)

+1 on making sure you get the new version. The old one would get our of alignment and did not seem to have as much power.

I saw their booth in Columbus and talked to his wife. She is really nice.

Congatulations Seamus.

I just recently went to the NJ presentation of that show and enjoyed seeing Barry present. I also picked up that pen press and have been quite pleased with it so far. I recommend putting some sticky felt dots or gluing some leather onto the ends though as they are not very soft.

Yep, we had fun. I was there for both Sat and Sun. Thanks Seamus for helping. Thanks also to PlanoHarry Anderson for helping out. I came home with one of those pen presses. They are super nice. Seamus, you may come over and use it when you need to. I also came home with eyes swollen and itching and also some terrible itching on my face and neck. I am somewhat allergic to lacewood, tigerwood, and/or fish scale oak. Time for another anit-itch cream application.
Do a good turn daily!

I wish I had known Barry Gross was there. I attended Sunday but never made it around to his booth. If I had known he was there I would have made it a point to get by his booth to meet him.
