PRESSING SUPPLIED EAGLE FINIAL JEWEL

For those of you who have made one of these pens, using the supplied finial jewel, how did you press the jewel into the finial? The ones I recently received are just a hair too big, and I am afraid of using too much force to press it in. Any tips, comments greatly appreciated.

I did some measurements on the parts. The OD on the jewel is .517", and the ID of the clip finial is .5"; too small to receive the jewel. I'm wondering if this is normal. I do have a query into Lazerlinez on this. Still would appreciate any insight.
