Hey everyone-

I've been at this hobby for a bit over a year now and am just completing my 98th, 99th and 100th pen. I'm never happier than when I'm putzing around my little shop and I draw a lot of inspiration from all of you. So thank you!

This post, like my selection of projects, is a bit eclectic.

First off, I turned a Zen not long ago with Black and White ebony that I thought might be "show worthy" because the black figure was nicely balanced. That was #98.

Nos. 99 and 100 are the two remaining Patriot kits from the set I bought from PSI quite awhile ago. With the 4th coming up I thought I'd get started on some pens for those I know in the military. The antique brass Patriot is for my former clerk's beau who serves in the Army Nat'l Guard and the Chrome Patriot is for an Air Force retiree who was my wife's neighbor at UW Med Center a couple years back when both were undergoing a bone marrow transplant - successfully, I'm happy to say. Not entirely happy with the striped end caps on the lower section - it seemed like a good idea at the time. 😀. Feel free to critique.

Of those members who are creating Independence Day pens about now, I'd love to see some more examples.

Hope you are all having a good summer, or in some cases, winter! Stay safe,

Russ

Nicely turned pens, Russ. You're doing well to keep an accurate tally.
I have to agree that there is " a lot going on " on the cap finials.

I keep a pen diary to help me keep track and learn what works for me and what doesn't. I thought the Air Force blank was a bit plain so I added the striped ends, if that's what you mean. Yeah, I still might make another body and swap it out before gifting. Thanks, Alan! Cheers,
Russ

The Zen is one of my favorite kits ... but beware of knock-offs ... those don't have "Dayacom" on the back of the clip !! . DAMHIKT !!
