Indy Pen Turners,
The next meeting of the Indy Chapter of the International Association of Penturners will be held on Saturday November 21st at the : Avon Parkside Church of the Nazarene located at 47 North C.R. 625 East in Avon, IN. The intersection for this is US Highway 36 and C.R. 625 E. (there is a stop light at the intersection) It is on the Northeast corner of the intersection. Turn right and then right again as soon as possible.
The meeting will begin at 10am and will last until 1:30 or 2pm. Everyone is welcome so bring your spouse or a friend if you want to. Light refreshments will be available as will coffee. The chapter asks for a donation of $3.00 to cover the cost of these things.
Here's what we have planned for this meeting:
1. Dan Mechuta will hold a demo for beginners and those who need a refresher. It will be held in a room separate from the hall we meet in and will last for an hour and a half to two hours.
2. Bob Hammond will have a demo to discuss and show what can be done with the Slimline pen to make it more exciting.
3. The leader team members who are not doing a demo will hold an open Q & A session to encourage all members to get answers to their perplexing issues regarding pen making, all topics will be explored.
4. Greg Jones will bring, set up and demo the Sorby Pro edge sharpening system and will sharpen tools for anyone who brings them.
5. Mark James will display the Traveling IAP Pen Collection and we will (if it's agreed on) encourage the members to offer a pen to be judged and maybe added to the collection. Mark will explain what that process looks like.
6. There will be a Pen Swap table and all who bring a pen for swap will be able to participate in this.
7. We will have door prize drawings of offerings supplied by our favorite vendors.
8. We will have a Show and Tell table where those who participate can show a pen or other item they have turned, and explain all about it.
9. We will set up a table where people can leave things they are giving away to the membership, not things for sale.
10. Announcements will be made about a Spring meeting and any other news we need to share.
