Your preferred way to apply WTF....?

I've gotten fairly good at applying CA and sanding/polishing a high shine to the CA and plastics. I've used the Wood Turners Finish a few times with nothing more than a "wet wood" finished appearance. Not satisfied with my results, I turn to y'all....

What is the proper way of applying any or the various types of wood rub in finishes, and what is the various desired results?

Old T-shirt rags works best for me, and I also take more time than most. I can build up the finish for a deeper look if I apply a coat every hour instead of every minute.

Thx Donnie, I'm actually looking for a bit more details, turning RPMs, how thick, how long to buff, water polish in between coats, what brand, do's and donts. I've turned many pens, but never learned the basics of turning before I started.
