I was working on a couple of burl slims for a workmate of my wifes and decided to try something different.
After sanding the barrels to 600 I sealed the surface with a good coat or two of thin CA and applied Yorkshire Grit paste and ran it down at 2000 rpm, then again with the Microfine paste. I was pleasantly surprised at the good shine on the CA coat without burning through it and thin enough the feel of the wood comes through. I think I have a new go to finish for quick pens.

I stopped using CA and micro mesh and now I use GluBoost, 600 grit only if needed then EEE then buff with plastic polish. Same idea.
