Three years ago a friend gave me a few small 3 to 4" diameter by about 16" long Yew logs and asked if I could use them for firewood.
I stuck them under the bench for a while and then cut them into 1" thick narrow boards about a year later and let them dry for a couple more years. . Yesterday I planed them down to 3/4" and glued them together and was able to cut out a 7.5" diameter bowl and a dish from it.
Gotta love the RM for using up firewood and other pieces of wood that might have wound up in the scrap bin.
