I was at the local Lee Valley store today with a few members of the Hub City Turners playing with/demonstrating some Rikon lathes. I made a Sirocco pen using one of my wife's feather blanks. Turned between centres initially with a gouge and then completed it with the skew. Sanded with 320 and 400 grit sandpaper, 0000 steel wool, then shined up by buffing with a Beall 3 wheel buffing set. We had a good day and LV bought lunch. :)
Disclaimer: My wife makes blanks for Beaufort Ink.

Thanks to all of you. It's great living with someone that's talented. Hurts a little when you are turning off the failed blanks to recover tubes and can see what a great pen it would have made.

That would be a depressing process.

BUT, the posted blank and pen are wonderful - a great team!

Well done!
