After years of hand cranking a hose reel, we decided to make our lives easier and get a retractable one. Purchased it on Amazon and I have to say it works very well. That being said there are a couple of things that would make it better. First, you can see I added a 90° elbow where the hose hooks to it. Without an elbow it would be a kink point for sure. Most water faucets are going to be below the hookup so a 90° elbow is a no brainer. I had a solid brass one but for whatever reason, it wouldn't tighten up. The second thing I'd change is to make the install bracket compatible with a 4 inch post. I had to add a 2x6 block to the post so I could use all four mounting holes. There was a review mentioning that but I missed it. I'm going to get a bracket to hang the nozzle on the post tomorrow. It has 90 feet of 5/8 hose. I soon remembered how much I dislike digging post holes😁. The frost line in my area is 42 inches and this post is 43 inches. That close to the house though, frost really isn't a concern. Lastly I used post setting foam for the first time. It worked and the post is pretty solid, I think it would be even better with cement. Hopefully though that's my last post installation. 😂 They do make battery powered reels but I opted for a simple retractable one.

I like this. Next year I am redoing the entire back and front lawns and landscaping. Right now I have a 150 foot hose laying on the ground that I curl up like a sailor curling a rope on a deck. This would make things look neater. How much hose can be installed on it? Do you think it is built well enough to withstand the weather throughout the year. ? Is it self retracting? I did not see that brand on Amazon. Do you have a part no. or link? OK I found it. Comes with hose which I do not need. I have a better quality hose that has been used for many years. Guess this may not work. Thanks.

They say it will stand up to winter. I'll put it in the shed in the cold months though, it just pulls off the bracket, so that'll be easy. Yeah, I don't believe you can replace the hose, but the one on it it appears to be pretty good quality. It is self retracting.
