I suspect that there are others like me here who enjoy other hobbies away from pen making. As a fly fisherman, I also enjoy tying my own flies and making Balsa poppers for my fish for bass. I've actually been fly fishing for over 30 years and tying for about the same. I originally purchased my first lathe to make reel seats and handles for the fly rods I made. eventually, I decided to find other things to make with my lathe, so I ended up making pens. Living in Florida, it's all warmwater fishing. No trout or salmon. But with Bluegill, Bass, and other predatory species, there's lots of opportunity to spend time at my tying bench. I especially enjoy making Balsa poppers that imitate fish or frogs. Although people often ask if I sell my creations, I much prefer to swap them with other tyers. Here are some of my patterns that work especially well for me. I am open to swaps for either flies/poppers or pen kits or blanks. If you're interested, just send me a PM and we can work from there.

These are gorgeous! I used to tie a few streamers and some other jigs I would throw for pike. I've not tied anything in so long I'm not sure I'd fully remember how. I love how you've used the whiskey cork to display them too.

I embedded a small magnet in the base of each cork so I can set them up on a metal ruler I keep at my desk to let them finish drying. The magnet keeps them in place.
