In my search for the best sharpening system... Has anyone tried the Work Sharp WS3000 Wood Tool Sharpener? It looks like a cool little machine. The videos were helpful but I don't know if it is a good solution for sharpening my lathe tools. Please add your thoughts, experiences and what setup you use now.

Thanks everyone!

I use the wolverine system. I also bought the slow speed grinder from Woodcraft. Once setup, it's fast & repeatable. I do need more practice on skew sharpening. But what I really need more practice actually using a skew.

I bought the wolverine system after considering the tormek & the sorby. But after reading what everyone else said, the wolverine would do what I needed it to do, and for much less. That said, I never considered the sharpening system you are look at.

Hope this helps.

I got the WS3000 because I prefer a flat grind rather than the hollow
grind left by sharpening wheels. And with the slotted disc, you can
look through your sandpaper and actually see the edge being formed
and you can adjust your technique on the fly accordingly.

My father in law sure likes his.I think his is the 2000,though.

I also use the Wolverine setup with a Delts VS grinder, and it works great............except ever since I bought my Woodchuck Pro,it's gathering dust!

I have both the Woodcraft slow speed grinder with the wolverine system, and the Worksharp. I much prefer the slow speed grinder/wolverine over the worksharp for lathe chisels, because of its repeatability, as BSea said.

I use the Worksharp for my flat carpenters chisels, but I could never get the hang of turning the gouges and scrapers correctly on the Worksharp, much less the skews. The wolverine makes it SO simple and you get a beautiful edge.

Hope that helps.

I have the Wolverine an dust recently purchased the 3000 and am learning how to use it. I sharpened my chisels on it and it is great. Next I will be learning how to do my gouges and skews. It was recommended to me by other Penturners in my area that I know.

I have the Wolverine with the WC slow speed grinder. I'm very happy with it and find the repeatability of it very good. I've never used the system you are considering.
