Thanks for the heads up. Just called the San Antonio WC and they have 5 of the kits.
On my way to get at least one kit. Great deal to help the troops. We can never do enough for our Heros.

Thanks for the heads up! $58 later and I'll have a set on my door step!
Gordon: you mention the pens for troops, and I've seen some stuff here and there about it. Without hijacking the thread, can you briefly explain how that works so some of us newbies know what it's about?

Basically you turn the pens and then send them to someone (The Freedom Pens Project) and they then send the pens on to the troops

That's a $10 price drop from a few weeks ago. The transmissions are a little different from "normal" 7 mm transmissions, but twist fine.

I bought a box several months ago when they were first listed as "on sale." The blanks are bland. I wrote a review on the website, but it didn't post for some reason. Perhaps I was too critical.

Overall, though, the price is right for just the components. I used one for my Russ Fairfield entry.

It is a great price especially now that it has been reduced another $10 to $49.99. I do not like the transmissions in these kits. Several did not work right at all. I have replaced them with the "old style" ones.

I picked up a set at WC and these appear to be the same thing Exotics sell as the longline slim kit. Someone correct me if I am wrong. I am curious to see if the mostly plastic transmission will hold up like the old reliable metal one from Daycom.

I have made a couple of exotics longline. It does look like these are the same kit except the woodcraft picture has a black stripe clip.

So far I am happy with the results of the longlines. I have used them for give-aways. Only used for less than a month. So far so good.

I still would prefer the old style transmission but I do like the look of the longlines.

Just got mine in the mail today. As previously posted, the blanks are kind of bland. They are also not labeled as to what they are. Besides from being from Malaysia, anyone have any idea?

I know at least one other very active member does this. I will wait to see if the member responds. Very nice cause.

As someone stated their review of the product was not posted on woodcraft. My review was not good about them, but they didn't put that either...
