Woodchuck Pen Pro

I ordered a Pen Pro from Ken last week and it came on Friday. I glued on the handle yesterday. My initial impression is WOW it is beautifully made and doesn't feel like a toy in your hand.
I started a project with it this morning and I have to say WOW again. I have been using a Hunter #3 carbide tool for several years but this puts it to shame. I hope to finish up after lunch and I'll post a pic if I don't screw it up.

Hi Dick; I jumped on the Pen Pro bandwagon a couple of years ago and have been very pleased as well.

Which cutters are you using? I prefer the 4" rad. ones

I haven't tried a 4" yet. Why do you like it better than the 2"?

You're gonna love it when you get into something really difficult! I use the bowl pro for my pens and then usually 600 grit and finish. I just made a nasty segmented pen using pine, aluminum and copper flashing. The Woodchuck ate the metal just like wood and left the pine glass smooth. Now the blanks staying together, well, that is another question all together! HA HA

I've been anxiously awaiting mine and it finally came in the mail today. I'm so happy I've been singing a song similiar to the 7 dwarfs, but in stead of "Hi Ho Hi Ho off to work I go" it's been "Pen Pro Pen Pro off to the shop I go".

I haven't tried a 4" yet. Why do you like it better than the 2"?

Hi Richard; You would have to ask a difficult question.:biggrin: I think I like the 4" rad. better, because of the longer radius. Make sense? I'm not certain.

I had the opportunity to test drive a Hunter 3/8" cutter by the good graces of Mike Hunter. I felt the smaller radius was much too aggressive to my liking, especially on polyresins/acrylics etc.

After turning a shaving set today about all I have to say is that I wish I had sprung for one sooner. Picture of the set is in Other Things We Make.

Just ordered one, yesterday. I ran into some Tru-Stone that I just can't turn with standard tools. I resorted to my metal lathe to get it down to a reasonable size. I can't wait to get mine.

Be careful, Dick!

This is one of the best tools in my shop! BUT, It will convince you not to turn in flip flops! If you drop that sucker, it's gonna fall dangerous end first... EVERY TIME! It'll make a mess of your favorite flops (and likely a toe, or two, too). DAMHIKT.

I've neglected my oval skew because of it. But saved on sandpaper...
