I was aware that my neighbor has a tree service and said he had enough work to last until the end of December. OK, to continue, I was mowing the backyard and noticed a large pile of wood waiting to be split for firewood. Some were small enough to "fit" my lathe. Not sure how long there were outside but will see if I can have a few pieces. Need to catch him at home.

That's a guy you need to give a "list" of target species over to and see if he can mill it down to usable pieces for you.

Doesn't have milling capabilities but I can maybe cut into rough boards and run through the planer. There is a sawmill up the road about 20 miles; has great reviews on Face Book. Need to check with them. Good idea! Thanks.

even if he can do a super rough job on milling sections with a chainsaw he'll get you a long way there.
