Wood Identification

I need help identifying a wood I turned this week.

From the outside appearance, I guessed it would be black to dark brown when turned. As I found out, it has a beautiful grain to it. It turned quite easily and had a very pronounced aroma. The blank is one I've had awhile and wasn't labeled.

Any ideas?

Some sort of rosewood (i.e. genus dalbergia). East Indian (dalbergia latifolia), or kingwood (dalbergia cearensis)

Could be cocobolo or a dalbergia as Carl suggested.

definitely not cocobolo (my eyes and sinuses would have thrown a flag)
I don't think it's kingwood
I tend to agree with maybe a rosewood. I've turned East Asia but not East Indian rosewood to my knowledge. This is not as deep a red as the East Asia rosewood I've turned in the past and not quite as "oily." It is more orange than red.

If it has a pronounced aroma, and the stripes resemble black and a deep red/yellow, almost gold color, it could be Bocote.

With that open, course grain, it looks more like it could be Wenge to me.

I've done a couple of pens with timber looking just like that--Bocote.

Probably Brazilian Rosewood.

Not Bocote, I don't think - I'd say Kingwood...
