I envy you and feel sorry for you 😂. It's going to taunt you and beg you to make it into a pen and someday you'll give in,spending days just drilling it, little by little, dreading a crack, all the while dreaming about the fantastic pen you will create. You'll mount it in your lathe, hoping and praying that you've waited long enough, hoping your tools are sharp enough hoping that the pen Gods will smile down on you. I hope they do because that will indeed make a truly beautiful pen

Sounds like you might have been bitten by the snake in a previous life... 😂
I live by the motto "One need not hope in order to undertake, nor succeed in order to persevere".
But secretly I have been practicing with less good-looking pieces and my confidence that I could succeed has increased significantly over the past couple of years... time will tell 😑

WOW, that is the nicest Snakewood I have seen. Best thing to do is put a frame around it and mount it on the wall! 😁 Or buy a music box, take the rotating dancer off and put the blank on it standing up! And you can put mini LED around the base to illuminate it as it rotates! :D

That way, it may not crack!😌 😅

Keep us posted!

Gorgeous piece of wood.

I've not worked with Snakewood before due to the tear out and checking reputation it has.

I hope to see a pic of it successfully turned as it would make a stunning pen. Good luck with it.
