I hope this is the proper forum and this is a broad question because I know it depends on a lot of things like, wood type, etc.
How long does it take for a fresh cut piece of wood to dry out enough to make a pen? Thanks.

In the micro wave about 10 min in stages. Naturaly 3 to 6 months depending on humidity.

I use DA on the lathe after turning before finial sanding, if I am not for sure the wood is dry. Wood that is left after turning, at this point is very thin and the DA will soak threw. I have had good results using this method.

Thanks! I didn't put 2 and 2 together. I use it but can't spell.

I dry mine in a table top grill using a 100 watt bulb under the grating. When the temp stabilizes using a thermometer through the top vents, the wood is dry. Usually takes 3 to 6 days, sometimes less.
