Does anyone know of a web site (or anything in the archives) that provides a description of various hardwoods and their characteristics. Pictures would also be nice.

There are a lot of good books on the topic. The references section of the site used to have a link to a good web site too, but I can't find the link to the references section any more! Um, Jeff...
