There was a Windows 10 update a few days ago .
Since then my computer has become considerably slower and less reliable.

Is anybody else experiencing this ?

Also, there is a new "pane" on the right side of screen after booting.
It can be deleted after each boot but I don't like it.
I wonder if it can be contributing to the slowdown.

Any comments would be welcome.

Mal, If you do not have virus protection, get it and install it.

You can normally UN-install any update. You can also go back to a previous "Snapshot" of the operating system by using the "Restore Point". You really need to know what you are doing with this, as you can destroy your machine.

Before I install any update to my machine, I take a snapshot of the entire boot drive to make it easy to recover if something goes awry.

Hmmmmm... I should do that this week.....

Yes, I have noticed the same behaviour - thanks.

Yikes, I'm not looking forward to that one. I hate Windows updates. I do everything I can to turn automatic updates off, but still on occasion I find that somehow updates get pushed through. My Windows just doesn't seem broken and I am content with the slight risk that something might get through my VPN, firewall and antivirus, so I just hate it when "updates" get sent out, especially when they include new "features" which usually means more clutter and overhead. - Dave
