I just got a new computer with Windows 8.1 installed, I have most of it up and running ok and can get where I want to be most of the time can get my email and go to the web etc...but I don't have my Cameras connected yet.

I have 2 cameras a Canon PowerShot S100 Digital ELPH and a Kodak EasyShare Z612. I have 2 USB ports Available but since I never use both Cameras at the same time I might just use 1 port for both I have a 4 - 1 adaptor if I need it.

When I go to "Camera" on Windows 8 it says something like first connect a camera.

Now what do I need to do? I am fairly sure the drivers are not in Windows 8
because I didn't load them, but I don't know that for sure.

Any help would be appreciated preferably somebody who can explain things in pretty simple terms to a guy who is fairly smart but not up-to-date on computer (windows) terminology.

I believe you can just plug in the camera and a window will come up to start setup. Or am I missing something?

Plug them in. If the computer does not do anything go to the bottom left corner of the screen and right click. Click file explorer and see if they show up as devices or drives.
