Once you learn, let me know. I've tried twice and failed.

I have 4 laptops and a desktop, that I'd love to connect up to each other.
 
Lin , are all the computers you are trying to network running windows 7 ? if not you will have to use another method . I can't find the microsoft database article right now but there is one to network different windows OS's .

Yep both computers running win7, Rene' (sonofmartin) had one of his tech's try to help me yesterday but couldn't get it. Bet if these were Mac's it would have been easy.

I tried the 2nd option from above and the laptops see each other, but I can't access the drives on any of them. Still doesn't recognize the desktop. I'll look at it again next week some time.

I'm probably missing something the Geek Squad did to them. :mad::mad::mad:
 
In win 7, unless you select to share each drive or folder and specify it as a shared and set properties still like old way, even in the homegroup you will only see the built in shared folders, you would have to move files to those to have them available on other systems.


Once you have the homegroup working, right click on the drive or folder you want to be shared and choose Share With.. then advanced sharing and enable it to be shared.
