WIFI ipad at shows.

In a few months my CrapTT 2 years is up. I am having a huge party celebrating the end of what has been one of the biggest waist of money for us. I don't think I would even call it a service.
Now to my question. I will no longer have a phone with data because of money and don't really need it. If I get an Ipad with WIFI from Verizon could it be used for running cards and what are the chances and or ways I can connect to WIFI? or do I need to get a data plan in order to use it for shows?

Wife has the iPad with just WiFi....no data plan needed.

You might need to get the 'password' from whomevers WiFi your logging into though.

I guess that could be trouble but from all the wifi stuff that pops up on my phone right now, everything is locked unless it is a Starbucks or Mac Donalds.

For doing shows, you would have to have access to wifi, and there are MANY places where that can and does happen. I would venture that you could not get onto wifi 75% of the time at show locations. So you would definitely need one with a data plan.

We use AT&T for our iPad service and you can set up 3G service month to month and perhaps just use it during your show months. Little more than the wifi version but beats buying another if the need ever presents itself!

As I understand it, the Square app encrypts all credit card data transmission. So no fear of intercept.

I've got this plan on my iPad, along with WiFi. AT&T has a no-contract 14.99 a month plan for tablets only, and it gets you 250mb of data per month. Not a lot, but I think it's more than enough to run some CC transactions when there's no WiFi availalble.

I used our Verizon WFi, Go payment system in our mountain area today and it worked flawlessly.
