Made a couple after seeing a demo a few months back. This is the gold n red one .

Ah didn't take that angle. Will do so later and post. Basically top curve is about 1/2 over its 11" diameter and it sits about 1" high but will measure and photograph.

It's brother was about 1/3 cat diameter or so…

I think the central bowl could be a little larger and still look appropriate but depending upon the angle you view it from it looks right .

With the Ash version ( cat photo one ) you still get the wood grain showing through which adds another visual effect to it provided you keep your paint layers thin. On the beech version the grain is more subtle visually and that again shows through at certain angles.

here you go , side view with rule of the gold and red one

thats the base view , very , very slight ogre profile . Haven't signed and dated it yet as not totally done with it.

Then did this one in Ash this evening . Top was done a couple of weeks back and allowed to thoroughly dry ( my excuse for not getting on with it ) .

just started to hollow it then thought to take a photo .
and here's it is after finish turning and first coat of acrylic lacquer

the lacquer really " pops " it , I find . I think I like this combination more than the gold n red one .

Jo Sonja interference paints used over black gloss lacquer base coats ( after much sanding and sealing) .
