Why is my CA/BLO finish dull?

I'm using a CA / BLO finish, and it's coming up very dull. It looks pretty good on the lathe, but it dulls after a few minutes..

Am I not using enough oil? too much? too much / not enough CA?

I know its hard to diagnose based on a post, but any ideas/ suggesations would be helpful.

Barry, I gave up CA/BLO and now use Enduro. Best guess is that you are using too much oil. Best advice, use Enduro.

How much oil are you using? I use 2 drops per application. What wood are you finishing or does it happen on all woods? Yes, it is difficult to diagnose long distance and not in person. You must change the parameters (amout of oil, amount of CA, applicator used and I'll keep quiet on this one ;-), lathe speed, age of CA...) and see if you can find the culprit. Maybe use no oil as some do...but I get a much better finish with the oil. Good luck and I hope you get the problem fixed.
