I have had this pen on file for quite awhile and was looking through some old photos and was wondering who did this pen??? Was it anyone here??? I have no idea where I got the photo. But i would like to give this concept a try and was going to ask the person if it was OK.

The file name from the image gave me enough to google search it from the home page. (had to stop google from autocorrecting nightlightz to nightlights) It was akbar ... See here:

Great detective work there fella. Now I know why I had that pictured filed for so long. I liked it back in 2008 and still do. Looking back at some of the names in that thread brings back a few memories too. It sure did look goldish. I tried his web links but come up empty. Maybe i will give him an email because i do not think he visits here any more.

I sure would like to give that pen a try.

Thanks.

That design has been used in pool cues for years. Not sure, but for some reason I want to say they call that design "butterfly". You might check on some of the pool cue forums for more info.

John - If you can't reach Steve through email, it appears that he still makes and sells segmented blanks at exoticblanks. Perhaps they can help you make contact with him.

WOW

If anyone wants to look at pens with the WOW factor I would like you to check out AKBAR photos. This is what I talk about when I said there were some very talented people on this site and he was one that took segmenting to new heights. What we are doing now has been done over and over some time ago. His work is far supior than what I can do or what I have seen on this site in quite some time. Now it is all coming back to me why I have some of his photos filed away. Man that is some nice work.

You should see what he is up to these days. He does sell blanks through exotics occasionally, but his real talent these days is in bowls... Pierced, carved, colored art pieces - they are really cool - he is certainly an artist with wood.
