Whirling Dervish

Made this whirling dervish as a birthday present for a 5 year old. Is maple with friction polish. Got the idea from the August Woodturning magazine.

That was embarassing, somehow I forgot to attach the photo. I think this is the first time since the new forum software that I made a post that I wanted a photo in.

looks much better now! do you hand spin or string spin it?

I hand spin, but the kid does not have the manual dexterity to do so, so I might make a launcher.
