"Our" shop has a new (virtually antique) metal lathe. I'm back using the shop at the senior center but I can't usae it for commercial purposes.[8]

I'm not sure how this fits into the topic, but www.onlinemetals.com are quite good for small orders of a wide range of metals and some polymers in various form factors (rod, tube, squares, hexagonal rod, etc. I don't have a stake in the business, just some good transactions in the past.

Nice looking South Bend -- wish it was in my shop. It is a metal lathe, but can be adapted to wood turning with a tool rest. Should work just fine - and with the lead screw and gear, you can cut wooden threads....

Thought everyone had one. Mine is a Model A with quick change gears and power cross feed.

Originally shipped to a High School in New Jersey in 1960. I got it a couple years ago from a local surplus equipment dealer.
