Well, it all began at 3 am this morning when I rolled in the driveway and headed down to the shop. I saw a strange glow coming from a box elder tree in my backyard that was recently struck by lightning in a storm. So, of course I am curious and I walk over to check it out. I see the dirt covered top of a 55 gallon drum and some green stuff oozing out.

Now..I don't have any kind of Hazmat or Radiation suit, and immediately the thought pops into my mind..what would Ken Ferrell do?? This stuff surely happens all the time down there, I've seen the movies..so of course I initiate the Tennessee redneck part of my brain and strip down to my underwear! That's gotta work, keeps the crud off my clothes and I can rinse off in the creek later.:biggrin:

So I grabbed my trust shovel and dug up the drum. Sure enough, it's radioactive toxic waste. Hmmm...I have no way to dispose of this. Then the thought occurs to me, what would Curtis do? He'd cast if of course..like any Texan, not afraid to get crap on his hands and he'd try anything once!:biggrin:

So now being from Michigan, I know safety is first and you can't just go around selling unlabeled nuclear waste..that would be unethical! So I quickly whipped up some labels, and figuring Alumilite bonds to anything, I mixed up a batch of blanks, thanks to the quick thinking and memories of penturners around the country...

And lastly of course, it didn't happen without pics, and no President should be left without some accolades, so I give you the all new pen blank " Nucular Waste"

not ALL rednecks

Alright Doc (wizard) let's see what you do with this one. PS- All of us Tennessee rednecks don't strip down to our underware. Ken...underware.... TMI

Those will be "Night Writer" pens where they provide their own light to see what is written.
No, us rednecks would not have left our underwear on to play in the glowing stuff. We skinny dip in the South.
Charles
ps; Way cool blanks

I don't know if they glow in the dark, but I do hope that they do. I added cryptolyte which far as I know is supposed to make it glow. I only added it to the green, and don't know how much you add so I just put in a good big squirt. I did learn that if you add cryptolyte to the resin and don't mix it in within a few seconds, it eats the cup and you end up running across the shop grabbing a new cup to pour into as the old one leaks all over scale, counter and hands. So maybe tomorrow I'll have an extra finger after all!

Jeff I would have done it just a little different, I would have driven over it, parked right on top, got out of the truck got a long straw and tried a sip. if it tasted OK I'd have finished the barrel and rolled around nekid (naked for you Yankees) in the back or maybe even front yard. But then we do things a little different down here, We know all about drinking out of barrels. Yes sir we shore do!!!

The blanks are pretty cool!! wish I had time to make pens, I heard that it's kind of fun.

and what's this underware thing Y'alls talkin about ?? ain't that what slides out from under the desk to sit your keyboard on??

Those are great fun blanks Jeff. Cool colours too!!
I think that when you sell them, you should suggest that the top half be turned around so that the triangle points upwards......but I'm just picky:rolleyes:

The sign I used for the warning had the triangle pointing up. Maybe it makes no difference? Either way, there's plenty room on the blank to spin the sign any way you want it, I try to split the layout and center images like these so they land right in the center of the upper half so they can go either way, just like the moons, you don't like the moon to the right, flip it to the left.

Am I weird, maybe, but I can't resist fooling around with Ken...He makes me laugh, and laughter is always the best medicine.
