I learned a lot from the posts I read there. Well, this past Tuesday was the day I tipped over the edge, it was my time! Yesterday I went and filed the paperwork, tomorrow will be my last day of employment, and as of May 1st I am officially retired!

My Wife is going to hold out for another two months due to insurance, but then we will be off and running! Wish me luck, I may be here more often - or not. :biggrin:

Some sound advice -

I don't care where you worked or what you did to be happy now - when you walk out for the last time - don't look back. I'm retired nearly 20 years and never missed the career for a day.
 
Good For you! I hope to be able to join you in about ....25 years. Watching my retired friends I'm sure you'll soon be wondering how you had time to get everything done while you were still working.
 
This is good news Scott. Time to enjoy life. I'm hope you WILL find more time for the forum. Congratulations, in advance.:biggrin:
 
I guess I'm retired, I think:wink:. I'm a lot busier doing what I WANT not what someone else wants....and never really knew how short the days are.
Enjoy it...I know I do
 
Congratulations. I hope follow that action one day. about 15 years to go though. I'm sure you'll be spending a lot more time doing the things you want now instead of the daily grind at work that you had to do before.
 
been there

I retired about 3 months ago and for the life of me, I don't know how I got anything done when I was working. I can hardly find the time now for my turning, and all the "Honey Do's"
 
I want to thank everybody for their kind thoughts! Today is my last day of employment, but all I will do is attend my exit interview and load up my personal effects. I enjoyed the people I worked with. Three of them called me at home last night to wish me well. I am really going to miss my clients, many of who have become friends.

I will be looking for a summer job just to do something completely different, until my Wife does her retirement. There are lots of challenges I look forward to, and lots of things I want to do! Life is pretty good from where I am!

Thanks for listening to me all these years! I appreciate the support you have given me.

Scott, you will not regret it one bit. The only thing is the Honey do list gets longer and longer. I've had only enough shop time to turn 2 pens. The wife is out of town this weekend so maybe, I'll blow off the list and spend it in the shop.

Hi Jack!

I'm already busy! And it feels great! My Wife remarked this morning that I seem so much happier. I am. And I intend to stay this way!
