For those that like to have an after dinner drink or even a nightcap or just a drink once in awhile to unwind, what is your pleasure??? Are there brandy drinkers and what is a good brandy??? Beer is not a relaxing drink so no beer thoughts please. Thanks.

Nice of you to ask John. I keep a couple choices in the freezer and a tall shot glass for sipping a shot a two in the evening. Either SKYY Vodka or a local award winning whiskey called Forty Creek.
How about you?
 
At one point in time it was a good single malt scotch ... but no more. I have been dry for almost 6 years now after my body started to have bad reactions to any kind on alcohol.
It does make it easier on the pocket book, until I started turning pens instead ; )

I keep a bottle of Irish Mist handy as well as a bottle of Pyrat XO Reserve Rum (Tastey TASTEY stuff I've drank for years). Also usually have some kind of Potato vodka around.

I don't drink whiskey anymore, just lost the taste for it. But in my day I could really get into a grey goose dirty martini with extra olives and old single malt scotch. If you haven't had it try johnnie walker blue. It's like drinking sunshine.

I also went through a crown royal phase. It was good, straight up or with any kinda mix. A lot of the cigar bars I go to offer port wine. I've gotten pretty fond of that to relax with a cigar, chat with the locals and drink a couple.
 
Lately I have been having either Rye or an Irish Whiskey. A Vodka Martini with a twist when out with the wife.
BUT I also Brew my own Mead. Sadly the latest batch was more experimental. and ended up with an overly citrus flavor. yet it never went down the drain. ended up with a awesome marinade for chicken and fish. pity it is all gone now. gotta wait for summer to brew my next gallon.
 
It is way hard to beat good ol' Kentucky sourmash for something to gently sip on late in the evening for relaxation. Just sip it, drink it and one relaxes a bit too much, I do say.:wink::eek:

you are kidding right???

Patron is overpriced turd water. If you want a GOOD tequila, you can't go wrong with Cuervo "Tradicional". 100% blue agave tequila that is so smooth it will suprise you. If you are a tequila drinker, you MUST try a bottle of Tradicional. If you like Patron, you will LOVE Tradicional. Like comparing a slimline to a JG.

Tradicional is better than any tequila i have tried, and believe me, I have tried ALOT of tequila's, as it is the only alcoholic beverage i will drink. Tres Amigo's ($100 bottle of turd water), Patron, 1800, cuervo gold, Mezcal (yes, I ate the worm), even better than Cuervo "De La Familia" (another incredibly overpriced turd water).

I only drink once or twice a year, but when i do drink, I sip on a shot or two of Tradicional. Yep, it is actually a pretty good sipping tequila, believe it or not!

Jose Cuervo is a friend of mine. I prefer 1800 on the rocks. Just sipping it. Also being from KY I love me some Bourbon. I've had most bourbon's, but I prefer Basil Hayden on the rock's. Then for my Tennessee pals I really like Jack Daniels single barrel. Kinda pricey for imitation bourbon though:smile:.
 
Beer

Mostly it is IBC or STEWART's Root Beer. But about once or twice a year I will have a beer (although I admit I had three this year - two on the same day) and it is usually a domestic lager. When in England I did enjoy some of the Brit's beer, it seemed they had a much better variety of beers than we have...here nearly everything is lager.
 
I rarely drink, but I like a good anejo tequila(Don Juilo 1942 and Tres Nobles are a couple of favorites). I also enjoy the occasional maker's mark and coke!
 
well just to give you a hint, i have a couple bull mastiffs named captain and morgan. thought about getting another and naming it coke but those two are expensive enough!
 
Me, myself, and I all pretty much lost the taste for any kind of alcohol years ago,
however, maybe been one of those days or sometimes even when a good friend might drop by that i haven't seen in a while, I do keep a bottle of Wild Turkey liqueur in the desk drawer :)
 
Everclear is made by the Devil. We used to use it for Jello shots. Would make for an interesting night.
 
How about Grand Marnier? Many people prefer it in a snifter with a glass of hot water underneath to keep it warm. Personally, I like it on the rocks. Although, on a cold winter's night......
