What method of sealing the ends of the blank with CA works best for you? I like the wet sand with MM,but every now & then I get that thin whitish line at the end of the blank from water seeping in on the ends.I hate that!

I finish TBC,and some gets on the ends there but obviously not enough to prevent the water problem.

For now I switched to dry-sanding MM,but the pores get plugged so fast,so I thought I'd ask here.

Thanks for any replies.

Once you have squared the blank and turned it round dip it in thin ca for second then finish the blank.

Lin.

I pour some thin CA on a paper towel then just give a quick dip & twist to seal the ends. I do this after finishing to shape & before applying CA to body of blank. Then wet sand 600gr to 12000 mm.

After I square the blanks, I stand the blanks on end and put a drop of medium CA on the two top ends. I quickly rub a blank end with the CA onto the bottom of the other blank, spreading the CA around and sealing two ends. Repeat with the other CA drop and remaining uncoated end.
The CA is spread around nicely, sealing and strengthening the ends of the blanks. Just be quick or the blanks will get glued together.
