I just purchased a nova comet II lathe and am looking to get another tool rest. I am just not satisfied with the stock one. I have noticed that a lot of pen turners use the round bar stock style rest. Just wanting to know what you would recommend and where to order?

A short custom one from IAP member Rick Herrell.

If you get into Turning Between Centers (TBC) a short tool rest is a must. The only other necessary item to give it a try is a 60 degree dead center. (you should already have a 60 degree live center) my $.02

Make that $.04. You can't lose with Rick's stuff. He can also make you multiple tests for the same post.

And if you use carbide cutting tools with square steel stock, Rick sells a flat top rests in a variety of lengths that are ideal for them.
