What Species Is This?

OK, you wood pen turning Guys and Gals, I would appreciate some help to identify what species of wood this is?
I put some BLO on the cross section piece to bring out the color and grain.
The wood a very dense and quite heavy.

I was given a quantity of these tree branches that are dry and ready to turn. They measure 1" to 1-3/4" in diameter that I think will make some great looking pens.

Thanks for looking and looking forward to your input to help identify the wood.

Most dogwood trees take on an elephant or alligator texture.

Whatever it is, I hope you can make use of those color rings and it doesn't come out looking like a single color pen. It's going to take a lot of body to rise and sink below more than just ring.

I would drill if off center as much as possible.

Took this piece of wood to a local tree farm and after some research he told me it definitely Honeysuckle.
