What labels do you use?

The last time I ordered labels to use when shipping USPS priority boxes, I bought sheets that had a cut down the middle which gives me two labels per sheet. I usually use Paypals USPS label printing and the problem is that after printing I have to cut the labels out with scissors and it' a real pain when shipping several boxes. I'm probably the only one doing this and need some advice.

Or do you have your favorite labels? I would like to find a sheet having two labels that once printed, can easily be peeled off without all the trimming.

Online labels makes pages that are just half sheets, no rounded edges. I buy them by the thousands and run through one of five printers. They work in all of them. Prod No. OL400 Looks like its the same cost, but there is no registration problem on the printers, since there is no margin issue.

I use the full sheet label, cut them in half, and tape each half to a sheet of paper.The label prints first then the label information on the sheet of paper which I file away for use at tax time. That works for me. I also do the same thing using the labels that have two half sheets per page.

I also trim the labels...it is a pain.

Not to be a bucket head here, but why do you cut the label? In the U.S.P.S. Setup (this screen pops up at every label or at the top of each batch). Tell it NOT to print the receipt.

If you are an environmentalist and it bugs you to use a whole sheet of 8 1/2 x 11 sheet simply folded it to the size of the box, you can Pre-cut the paper to 8 1/2 x 4.5 in lots of say, 100 sheets, which fits a small flat rate box exactly. You printer is not smart enough to know that the sheet is NOT 8 1/2 x 11, so no special paper set up tray is necessary.

I cut 'em about 20 sheets at the time with a straight edge and exacto knife and keep these sheets in top of the printer. This is AS SIMPLE as using expensive labels, as you have to replace the standard paper with a label.

As far as reciepts, I print those in batches at the end of the month. The accountant appreciates this.

As far as "self adhesives" labels' "sticky" advantage, Sams Club sells two LARGE ROLLS of 3M Scotch Brand shipping tape WITH a REAL gun for $12. I can secure a flat rate box and neatly affix the label with my gun in half the time you can remove the label backing, much less discard all of the mess.

This system costs me less than 1/4 the amount for sticky labels and makes my shipping twice as efficient.

I make pens ad my sole livelyhood. We overlook no cost cutting messures Nir waste anythig!

I don't know where you heard this, but I know someone that uses free UPS labels.... I...errrr...he has to cut off the UPS logo, however....

I liked what I saw at http://iamlabels.com/product.sc?productId=58&categoryId=7 Their label; Item #: 2-1x150 WP seems to be exactly what I am after. It will print the paypal form with room to spare but the margin is of no concern since it will easily fit on a small flat rate box without going over the sides AND they just peel off meaning no more scissors.

Just fyi in case anyone else is looking for a good deal........ The order I just placed got me 150 sheets (300 labels) for $12.50 + free shipping! Can't beat a deal like that unless you borrow labels from UPS and cut the UPS logo off! :eek:

If you want to save time and effort and you ship using USPS- get yourself a postage program there are a couple approved by the Post Office. I used Endicia.com. You get a slignt discount on postage for buying on line and you get free confirmed delivery. They automatically adjust for changes in postal rates. They also can send an email to each customer when you print the label telling them that you are shipping.

If you insure it is a ton cheaper than USPS (for $100 it's about half what the post office charges for $50).

You can print international customs declaration forms.

The software is compatible with dozens of labels, all you have to do is select the one you are going to use. You can even add your logo if there's room on the label for it.

You don't need to worry about records because they produce a record of every label printed. They also keep track of how much postage you buy and how much you print. So at tax time you have a good record of the postage portion of your mailing costs.

I have a DYMO Labelwriter 4XL and use rolls that work for everything except the larger international customs label which should be printed on plain 8 1/2 by 11 sheets anyway.

So if you ship even one package a day it is worth looking into.
