What kind of wood is this?

My closest theory is a dyed poplar or something but I'm lost... I've asked everyone I know so where else better to go than the biggest collection of penturning fanatics?

Hmm.. it looks like it's been edited in Photoshop or something similar.
The grain reminds me of cedar, but without any color it is hard to tell.
If it were really gray, you'd see colors (even if only a tiny amount) in the
reflections on the metal. Even photo lights aren't pure white/gray.. so
I think portions have been desaturated, which makes it harder to tell.

I think it was English Yew, if I remember correctly?? Don't quote me on that though!! But was played around with on P'Shop, so nothing like the original colour! As image is desaturated then colour highlighted on the metal areas of the pens!

Pic was from the bash contest i think?
